What if I want to be good at multiple things?
How do I stand myself out?
How do I effectively position myself?
I am so excited to dive into today’s topic because this is something that comes up a lot among multi-passionate entrepreneurs.
So, how do you position yourself as an authority when you’re passionate about multiple things?
These are a ton of perspectives around this topic. A lot of people talk about just one thing, just one solution, but I want to tell you that there are options that you can explore.
In fact, there are three, and I want to share them with you in this blog post.
First Positioning Strategies for Multi-passionate Entrepreneurs: Positioning with your Super Audience
The first positioning strategy is for you to position with what I call your super audience.
I’d like you to think about it for a second. What is the one audience that can really benefit from all of your passions?
I know this might feel far-fetched right now.
You do not even need to be super niche with this audience.
HOW TO CHOOSE A SUPER AUDIENCE: POSITIONING STRATEGIES FOR MULTI-PASSIONATE ENTREPRENEURS
You can also just pick out qualities in this audience to target or narrow in on them. You don’t have to niche down to, where they live, what they do, or what they ate for lunch (#wicked_grin)
You could simply highlight the values of this audience.
What is the vision that they want to create?
What is the impact they want to create in the world?
What legacy do they desire to leave behind?
Then I invite you to ask yourself, “how do my different gifts, skills and passions help me serve this audience?”
How CAN your different passions, skills, and gifts serve this audience?
That’s how you discover your super audience. Then you can effectively position your business empire, whether that looks like multiple passions inside one business, or that looks like you’re starting a different business that serves one audience.
And of course, this does not mean you cannot serve any other audience, but this is a positioning strategy with your super audience in mind.
How can you portray yourself as an authority to this particular audience?
So that is one positioning strategy, positioning with your super audience.
Ask yourself, who is my super audience, and how can I impact this super audience with my multiple gifts, skills, and passions?
Second Positioning Strategies for Multi-passionate Entrepreneurs: Positioning with your Ultimate Purpose/Mandate
The second positioning strategy is for you to position with your ULTIMATE PURPOSE/MANDATE.
I strongly believe that we can have multiple messages as multi-passion entrepreneurs, and that is completely okay, but there is an ultimate purpose/mandate that we have.
This is a mandate, a core, specific mission that we were sent to do here in the world, and you can position yourself with that ultimate mission.
Case study of how I position with my ultimate mandate as a positioning strategy for multi-passionate entrepreneurs
For example, my ultimate mission is healing the world, and I love to do that in different ways. And with my multiple messages across my different businesses and passions.
This is a very potent way to help you position yourself as an authority while pursuing multiple interests and passions. Position with your ultimate mission or mandate.
Also, understand that your ultimate mandate can have multiple messages, and that is completely okay.
When people know you for that ultimate mission/mandate, it becomes easier to do all of these other things, and to have multiple messaging without sounding like you are scattered all over the place.
Third Positioning Strategies for Multi-passionate Entrepreneurs: Positioning with your Personal Brand
The third and final way that I want to share with you today is to position with your personal brand, and this one’s a kind of mix between the first and second positioning strategy that I already shared.
Positioning with your personal brand is also a very popular positioning strategy many coaches recommend for multi-passionate entrepreneurs..
In fact, non-multi-passionate entrepreneurs are positioning themselves with their personal brand, so Personal Branding is a pretty popular term.
Personal branding is like the “household name” in the entrepreneurship society right now. If you do not have a personal brand in this age and time, you have not started a business (#wink).
It’s about understanding and amplifying how you want people to see you.
Having a personal brand as a multi-passionate entrepreneur can be hugely valuable especially if you want to integrate all of your passions, or at least most of it, into one core business.
