There’s so much talk around this word, Resilience.

It’s often framed as the ability to “bounce back.”

I want to challenge the popular belief that Resilience is about “bouncing back”

Some bold acclaims but don’t pass it off yet

I have proof of this acclaim from my personal journey and everything I’ve had to go through in life till date.

My path has helped me conclude that,

INDEED, Resilience is NOT about bouncing back!

It’s about giving yourself GRACE and permission to explore emotions and depths of you that are often left unexplored.

In this post, I want to talk about the TRUTH that resilience is much deeper than “bouncing back”—it’s about giving yourself grace to go through emotions and life’s challenges, not simply returning to who you were before hardship struck.

Still here? Let’s dig in…

My Journey Through Hardships and how I came to conclude that Resilience is NOT about “bouncing back”

In my personal experience, resilience has been an ongoing journey.

Many people look at me today and see confidence, strength, and an unwavering sense of purpose.

But what they don’t see are the battles I’ve fought to become this person.

There was a time in my life when I was consumed by fear—so much so that I experienced what I call “fear tantrums” for almost a year.

I also lost my dad, a person I was very close to. His death affected me so deeply that it began to take a toll on my physical health.

I started having heart palpitations and even had suicidal tendencies.

My family had no idea, and I’m sharing this to let you know that I’ve walked through some of the darkest times in life.

I know what it’s like to struggle financially in business, to face rejections, and to see deals that you thought were closed fall apart.

I’ve received hateful comments and experienced heartache. Yet, through it all, resilience—paired with God’s grace—has carried me through.

All this has made me conclude: Reilience is NOT about bouncing back!

Let’s REDEFINE Resilience…

Redefining Resilience: Why it’s an Exploration of Self instead of bouncing back

Resilience, to me, isn’t about getting back to where we once were.

In fact, I believe we never return to who we were before a significant event.

Whether it’s the loss of a loved one or a setback in business, those experiences change us.

Rather than “bouncing back,” resilience is about giving yourself permission to explore the depths of your emotions, to uncover the layers of yourself that have yet to be discovered.

It’s a journey of becoming more of the person you were created to be. You’re not meant to revert to your former self; instead, you’re meant to grow into a deeper, more authentic version of who you are.

This process isn’t about forgetting or ignoring the pain—it’s about allowing yourself to experience and process those emotions fully. That’s what I believe true resilience is.

Redefining Resilience: Shedding Layers and Becoming Who You Were Created to Be

I believe that when we go through tough times, we’re not becoming someone new—we’re becoming more of who God created us to be.

This distinction is important because it acknowledges that we don’t have complete control over our outcomes.

Rather, we play a role in discovering and embracing who we are meant to become.

The hardships we face aren’t meant to break us; they are opportunities to shed the layers that no longer serve us, to step into a fuller, more complete version of ourselves.

This is my first REDEFINITION of what Resilience actually is, but that’s not all…

Redefining Resilience: Feeling Alone but Not Truly Alone

During your seasons of growth, it’s common to feel alone.

But here’s the epiphany: we are never truly alone.

We are all connected—through our relationships, our shared experiences, and our common struggles.

Even in our solitude, we are part of a larger tapestry of life, and that understanding can provide comfort.

This shift in perspective—understanding that you are connected even when you feel isolated—is a higher form of resilience.

It’s a lot we’ve covered so far.

But this conversation is non-exhaustive, which is why I decided to write a book about Resilience! Let’s get you introduced.

Introducing: My book about Resilience that dives deeper into why Resilience is more than “bouncing back”

All of these insights and more are part of my journey, which I’ve chronicled in my upcoming book.

This book has been a labor of love, written over the span of several years.

I’m excited to announce that it will launch on November 23rd, 2024 my birthday—a day that holds special significance for me.

The book is not just about resilience; it’s about how we can navigate life’s hardships and emerge stronger, more self-aware, and more connected to our true purpose.

If you’ve ever faced loss, fear, or business challenges and need a fresh perspective, this book is for you.

It’s written from a place of deep understanding because I’ve been through it all.
