“It’s 6 PM… Again?”
It’s 6 p.m or 11 p.m. You promised yourself you’d be done with your work for the day by 2 p.m so you could go for a spa treatment before picking the younger kids from school.
But somehow… you’re still at your desk.
You took a quick break to pick your kids from school by 3 p.m, squeezed up something edible for them, and then returned to your work desk by 4p.m.
You took another quick break to welcome hubby by 6 p.m and you were back by 6:30 p.m AT YOUR WORK DESK
Nose buried into your screen.
Fingers running over the keys
Now it’s 11 p.m
You’ve been working since 10 a.m. You’re tired.
You’re feeling guilty because your energy is off and it still seems like your to-do list has expanded instead of shrunk.
You feel that sinking guilt again.
Not just because you missed your personal time, but because now you’re carrying that energy into your family space.
You’re irritable when your kids walk through the door. You’re frustrated. And it doesn’t feel good.
Let’s change that — starting this week (finally). Becasue you’re no more availbale for that reality. You’re ready for #YOURSPACIOUSERA

👋 Welcome — You’re not unable to stop working late into the night
I see you.
You’re a hard-working entrepreneur, deeply devoted to your business.
Your commitment has built something incredible — maybe even a six-figure business generating $100K+ in annual revenue.
But now, you want more.
More freedom. More balance. More time for yourself.
And here’s the thing:
This isn’t a marketing problem.
This isn’t a sales problem.
It’s an operational problem.
I’m Sharon Samuel Adikpe — Systems and Operations strategist for entrepreneurs who are ready to scale without sacrificing their health or time freedom. This is what I’m here for.
Now. let’s dive into 3 quick, effective fixes you can implement immediately to help you leave your desk earlier — and reclaim the freedom you started this business for.
Let’s dive in!
✅ Quick Fix #1: Create a Non-Negotiable Break Task
If you don’t have hubby or kids break time and work from 11 – 11, this would be a potent quick fix
Everyone talks about setting “break times,” but how often do we actually honor them?
Here’s what really works: instead of just scheduling a break, create a task that requires you to leave your desk.
I call this a non-negotiable break task — something important, meaningful, and aligned with who you are.
My Example:
As a Jesus-believing Christian, my non-negotiable task is my daily prayer time.
I often start work around 12 p.m. and aim to finish or take a break by 3 p.m.
That 3 p.m. prayer time is sacred — it’s non-negotiable. It pulls me away from my desk with purpose and intention.
Yours might look different. It could be:
- A 30-minute walk around your neighborhood
- Painting or sketching in a journal
- Reading outside in the sunshine
- Journaling or meditating
The key? It should be a task that brings you peace — not another obligation. Choose something you truly enjoy, and make it a sacred part of your day.
✅ Quick Fix #2: Reward Yourself with Something Juicy
Let’s be real — most of us are high achievers who also crave instant gratification (guilty!). So, why not use that to your advantage?
To be fully present in the time you take off to spend with kids and hubby, how about rewarding yourself too?
Set up a reward system for leaving your desk on time.
Some juicy reward ideas:
- A treat from your favorite café 🍰
- A spa appointment you’ve been putting off
- A weekend staycation (is that even a word?) or family getaway 🌴
- A new book, outfit, or little indulgence just for you
When you attach something exciting to the outcome, it becomes easier to commit to the action.
Use this method to train yourself into making space for life outside of work.
✅ Quick Fix #3: Invest in an Operational Audit
Now, let’s talk about the most powerful strategy of all — one that offers long-term, sustainable results.
If your business is already thriving in terms of sales and marketing, but you’re still overwhelmed, overbooked, and overworked, the problem isn’t your strategy — it’s your operations.
To complete your work for the day by 2p.m and never have to return to your desk again, this will lead you on a path to a long-0lasting solution.
An operational audit gives you clarity on the internal systems, processes, and workflows that are not serving your freedom or your goals.
It’s not just about fixing today — it’s about designing your business to work for you, not against you.
That’s where true freedom begins.
If you’re serious about building a business that gives you time, peace, and joy — this is the step you can’t skip.
So, which of these quick fixes will you try first?
Let’s recap:
- Non-negotiable break task – Anchor your break with something meaningful.
- Juicy rewards – Motivate yourself with instant (and delicious) gratification.
- Operational audit – Get to the root of the problem for a lasting solution.
